It was for a documentary about women who suffer from postpartum depression. These women had put themselves out there in a
very vulnerable way by sharing their own stories. Their goal was to give other women the
knowledge, encouragement, and voice to get help for themselves.
Let me tell you where I fit in…..
I had the
absolute joy of overseeing the makeup and hair department. The fact that I
contributed in making these women look and feel beautiful was truly
rewarding. As mothers, their daily
lives consist of taking care of others. I was able to take care of them for a
change.
I saw all of these women feel more confident and
beautiful. They were there to empower other women, and to me that is true
beauty. It did not take the latest
Chanel product to make that happen. (Though, I am not suggesting Chanel was
not in the room.) Putting makeup on such courageous women -- not a scripted
character -- was for me, a treat. As a
makeup artist, it is the people I meet, the stories I hear, and the experiences
I get to share in that make me feel successful.
I truly hope
